Ali Sharif-Emami provides strategic planning and corporate development

opportunities. He has over 25 years of executive management experience in
financing, development, marketing and deployment of high technology systems,
especially in mobile computing & wireless communication. His financial
clients include hedge funds as well as venture capital and private equity
firms.
Mr. Sharif-Emami provides expertise in addressing the challenges created by
converging technologies and the disruptions they cause. He provides insight
on the capabilities and limitations of the underlying technologies and the
effects these have on business models and strategy. He drives business
strategy and operations to align with financial strategy and offers
proficiency in all the financial transactions required at different stages
of development.
Mr. Sharif-Emami is Founder and Principal of EnterpriseWireless, an advisory
service for the wireless industry, financial institutions and enterprise
customers. The practice at EnterpriseWireless focuses on the convergence of
computing and communications, specifically in content delivery systems, with
emphasis on system architecture and mobile device & application design.
Recent engagements include wireless instant messaging & email systems,
development of WiFi service for public transport systems, development of
content delivery infrastructure for the Chinese mobile market, systems for
delivery of radio content to mobile devices, applications of VoIP over WiFi
networks, and study of an MVNO offering for a national radio broadcaster
Mr. Sharif-Emami was previously Founder, Chairman and CEO of Melard
Technologies, a leading provider of end-to-end wireless enterprise systems.
At Melard, he led the development of 9 generations of award winning mobile
hardware platform and 3 generations of wireless messaging software. Melard's
blue chip customers included Pepsi, Siemens and many among the telecom and
cable TV service providers, including Verizon, AT&T (SBC), BellSouth, and
Time Warner. Melard was involved in some of the largest, most demanding
deployments of information systems of any kind, including the world's
largest deployment of CDPD wireless data technology.
Mr. Sharif-Emami was a founding member of the Portable Computer and
Communications Association (PCCA), which develops and promotes mobile data
industry standards, and was a member of its board of directors while at
Melard. He has been a frequent speaker at mobile data conferences and has
authored several articles on the subject. Mr. Sharif-Emami was selected as
an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist in 2002.
Mr. Sharif-Emami holds an M.A. in Engineering Science from Cambridge
University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University, and
an M.B.A. from Harvard University Graduate School of Business.
