Portfolio Simulator

Portfolio Simulator is an Enterprise level to provide real-time guidance in situations involving multiple projects involving uncertain outcomes and uncertain required effort. Portfolio Simulator provides high level management dashboards that deliver facts to founded enable management decisions - transforming vague uncertainties into factual KPI's.

Background:

One project, defined by activities and resources, typically has variability and uncertainty. Microsoft Project, out of the box, shows the time-line and resource needs of one project executing one time. An example of such a project might be "prepare a machine for shipment". Because every task that comprises such a project might take more or less resources, what Microsoft Project shows is just one possible variation of the project.

Imagine now however having to do that Project again and again. And imagine that each individual task might have certain statistical variations associated to it. Defining the best and worst case milestone timings, resource needs would be important. This is what Project Simulator does, as an add-on to Microsoft Project.

Now imagine having many Projects … a whole Portfolio of Projects. And imagine some already under way, others waiting to start, each with their own variations and furthermore with different predicted returns. Now think how you would decide, in real time, which projects to start, which to stop which to delay, which to accelerate; enter ProModel Portfolio Simulator!
